Cottage FAQ

Accommodation FAQ:

Kitchens: Cottage and Coopers Mill all have their own catering kitchens with cooker, microwave and fridges and all necessary utensils within the cottages. Excellent facilities in main building.

Dining Room: Outside or in!  Smaller groups can be inside in the cottages. Dining for large groups of up to 60 in main building.

Sitting Room: Comfortable lounge area in the cottage. Lecture and common room areas withing the main centre.

Internet, TV and Music Facilities: Main building has  conference facilities, very limited Wi-Fi. Coopers Mill is blissfully disconnected!

Telecom Facilities: Poor to non existent mobile reception on most networks. EE is best in the forest.

Heating/Open Fires: Coopers Mill cottage has a wood burner and a camp fire area. Callow cottage has gas CH. No fires/fireworks outside at the centre without prior arrangement.

Bedrooms: Most rooms have bunk bed sleeping arrangements.

Linen: Linen can be provided at an additional cost. Otherwise please bring sleeping bags.

Bathrooms: Bathrooms with shower facilities in both cottages and additional camping shower block at the centre. En-suite facilities only within selected bedrooms in the main building.

Disabled Facilities: We are not equipped to accommodate disabled guests in Callow cottage. However, we have full disabled access-facilities within the main building and at Coopers Mill

Children’s Facilities: The whole centre is designed with children in mind. but there are areas of the site we do not allow for their own safety without FCC staff supervision.

Outdoor Facilities: The Frank Chapman Centre is set within 90 acres of beautiful ancient oak forest with plenty of local walks and our own deer and other assorted wildlife (pigs, chickens, badgers, squirrels) within the forest. The Wyre is a site of Special Scientific Interest and is the second largest forest in England

Parking: Amble parking is provided on the centre grounds. Parking for just 2/3 cars at Coopers Mill

Smoking: No smoking inside the any of the cottages or the centre grounds.

Pets: Well behaved (owners and) pets are welcome by arrangement only within the cottage only. Please contact us for information.
