Hands on experiences of touch, feel and smell give young people the opportunity to take on new challenges that can help them back in the classroom or home. Often it is the first time away from home and an experience they will remember all their life.
For our teachers and visiting staff members it is the opportunity to see a new side to a student, to watch them interact and build a community away from the chairs and desks and get to understand them better.
Residential programmes can be from one night to a full week taking in a range of activities, giving just a taster of each, to a meaningful programme of learning the skills in one sport that may spark a pastime in the future.
Spending more time on one single sport can also allow us to officially accredit the activity you do, giving the students something concrete to take home with and use to demonstrate their learning.
Talk to us about your educational aims for the group and we can put a programme together with you to help achieve those aims. Youth groups often come to us looking for more specialized programmes that may involve not just activities but self delivered elements and other partners and agencies coming in to deliver sections of the stay. We may be even able to suggest these if you need.
All courses include:
- Personal and social development
- First hand experiential learning
- Key skills and thinking skills development
- Environmental awareness
- Activity skills development
- Healthy lifestyles
We can fully cater for your residential visit. We also have the facilities for groups to cater for themselves. This can provide excellent opportunities for group members to gain invaluable cooking skills alongside the social and team building exercises which are required to cook for a group.
