The centre hosted a Small Woodland Association event yesterday bringing lots of new owners and managers of woodland from across the Midlands and Wales together.
The day was a huge success led by our own forester David, who’s woodland business is based at the centre, and key players such as Natural England, the Forestry Commission and others.
It was a good chance to highlight the good work we are doing putting the woods back into active management, meaning giving the wood value and increasing biodiversity.
There was some fantastic demos of the equipment available to small woodlands to remove and process wood and we hope to turn some of the wood milled yesterday into new seating in the next few weeks. The machinery is low impact and perfectly suited to sensitive and protected woodland like ours.
This was the last of the Heartwoods conference from the Small woods association and a fitting end as the feedback from the participants was really encouraging.
