URGENT REPAIR WORK STARTS ON ST ANNE’S CHURCH, BEWDLEY
Work has started to repair the roof of St Anne’s Church, an historic listed building, in the middle of Bewdley town centre. Work was due to start in May but had been delayed to find the best solution for the necessary traffic diversions whilst the urgent repair work takes place.
Worcestershire County Council have given approval for all light traffic from the Kidderminster direction to use Severnside South, Lax Lane and High Street which will all be temporarily one way. Traffic in the opposite direction will be able to use Load Street as normal although this will also be temporarily one way past the church. Large vehicles from the Kidderminster direction will be diverted via the bypass. The temporary traffic arrangements will commence on Monday 27 June.
Access to Load Street and Load Street Car Park will be maintained at all times and there will be no need for temporary traffic lights which can cause congestion. All pavements adjacent to local shops will remain open as will the church.
It is due to be completed in September.
